Late in the summer of 1998, Simon Crane (stunt coordinator for "Titantic", "Saving Private Ryan", "Braveheart", and "The World Is Not Enough - 007") along with Allan Hewitt of Sky Science Limited, PPC stunt supervisor for EON Productions of London, were searching for the ideal powered parachute to be used in the newest James Bond film.  They chose the Blue Heron.

In the fall of 1998 a factory-assembled Blue Heron was shipped to Pinewood Studios in London where the aircraft went through its transformation into the sinister "Parahawk".

Filming took place in Chamonix, France, and the film was released in November, 1999.  This high-adventure film has given powered parachutes more exposure to the general public than any other event, and it was Blue Heron powered parachutes that made it happen.

Since the James Bond film, Heldeberg Designs LLC has had an active relationship with Stunt Supervisor Allan Hewitt and his company, Sky Science Limited, in the U.K.  Two additional aircraft were exported to the UK for the purpose of CAA (Civil Aviation Authority, equivalent to our FAA) air worthiness approval testing.  This process is a combination of rigid testing of engineering, safety, and performance.  The Blue Heron also had to complete a test portion of the process.  The CAA certification continues, and when it is completed, the Blue Heron will become the only powered parachute certified to fly in Europe.
